What is soil?
Soil to most people is simply the stuff that plants grow in and
they would be correct. However the truth is that is a little more complicated
than that.
The main framework for soil is a combination in differing levels of clay sand
and silt, produced by the erosion of rock over the centuries. This makes up
about half the amount of the soil, the other half being made up of air, water,
organic matter, living creatures and plant roots.
Where you have an ideal mixture of the main framework parts then
the name given to this soil is called
loam. Loam produces the best crops and if you have it in your garden
then you a blessed.
Organic Matter
Where soils contain little or no organic matter the soil is said
to be poor
Where there is plenty of arganic matter in the soil then the
